Need Of Implants
Dental implants what are they?
Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth generally used to support the crowns, dentures or bridges that are used to restore spans of teeth. In other words, dental implant is new root that is made of alloy. The metal alloy used in implants is titanium which is compatible with the body tissues. It bonds with the surrounding and adjacent bones easily and acts as new root that was lost. It is the same biomaterial in plates and screws that are used to fix fractures in orthopedic & maxillofacial areas
Dr. Sudhakar Reddy has an abundance of clinical experience and shows how dental implants are a safe and convenient to way to replace missing teeth.
Why do we need dental implants?
Dental implant is the closest & best way in replacing the tooth that was lost. Any other way of replacing the tooth will definitely compromise adjacent teeth or bone or gum condition etc over a period.
Removable teeth (Removable Partial Dentures) used to replace missing teeth is not a fixed option and over the time bone loss happens in such a way that fixed options like implant will be difficult to do at later date unless aggressive bone grafting surgical procedures done Although, bridge is a fixed option but it compromises adjacent teeth by grinding it into small shape to hold the bridge. Extra load of the bridge adds extra forces on grinding teeth and even they becomes loose over few years which has to be removed over a period of 6-10 years. There are several advantages of dental implants:
Dental implants function and look just like original teeth
The candidate experiences no complications while chewing or eating with dental implants
The structure of the bone present beneath the tooth is well-maintained without damage and the natural process of bone renewal is stimulated
A good appearance of restored teeth and face is preserved
There is no need to use special glues to hold teeth in place, like in the case of dentures
Even the removable dentures are firmly fixed with dental implants
Adjacent teeth are not compromised (grinded) to act as a support for missing teeth and do not need root fillings.
Ideal candidates for a dental implant
Earlier, Ideal candidate for dental implants were those who have sufficient bone, sufficient cap(crown)space and good gum conditions
As the technological advancements and surgical skilled improved over the recent years, Dr. Reddy can say any candidate who has missing teeth or teeth to be removed due to various reasons are the right candidate for Dental Implantt.
