Teeth For Jaw Reconstruction Patients
Rehabilitation of missing teeth with dental implants is considered as the best modality than any other techniques. But it poses big challenge in cases where available bone is missing in large part as a chunk. Especially in cases whom jaw(UPPER/LOWER/ BOTH) have been resected (removed) fully or partially due to previous oral cancer spread or ablative jaw surgeries due to various tumors or cysts, severe trauma /accident cases, and even gunshot injuries etc..
In these defects, reconstruction of teeth needs sufficient bone building first and then we will place dental implants and give the teeth over a period. With advanced techniques, we do can give immediate teeth by avoiding aggressive jaw building techniques also (depending on case). The use of dental implants in such reconstruction cases can be divided into 2 categories: (1), for retention of a prosthetic device like palatal obturator, used in maxillary reconstruction, and (2), for dental rehabilitation after bony reconstruction of the jaws.

At dental implant studio, Dr. Sudhakar Reddy specialized in such kind of implant teeth rehabilitation and has done many such cases and he is also visiting consultant to many cancer hospitals. He does following treatments.
Fixed teeth with implants in gunshot injuries
Fixed teeth with implants in cancer patients.
Fixed teeth with implants in trauma cases.
Fixed teeth with dental implants in accident cases.
Fixed teeth with implants in cleft palate, cleft cases.
One can see various such cases done by Dr sudhakar reddy in the gallery and also may visit our YouTube channel:

Quality of life is a major factor in such patients who had undergone ablative surgical therapy / jaw removal –partial or full and in trauma cases. It is greatly improved in Implant therapy in reconstructed bone with skin flaps either in upper jaw or lower jaw and also increases patients self confidence. However, the problem of reversal of the implant:crown ratio due to the thickness of the soft tissue and the thinness of the bone remains a challenge which should be addressed by experienced dental implant surgeon.
Based on this experience, Dr Reddy will plan properly to treat such patient’s regards to number of implants, immediate or delayed, extra grafting procedures , single surgery or multiple stages, removable or fixed prosthesis etc.
